| I am originally from Branchburg, New Jersey, but now currently resides in San Diego, California. I spend a few months of the year in Hawaii deepening myself as a Lomilomi Practitioner. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of New Mexico with a concentration in Photography and I am a Licensed Massage Practitioner. I have brought my two worlds together as a Photographer and Lomilomi Practitioner by creating Healing Art, through collections such as The Aloha Collection. I started my spiritual journey as a teenager from pure curiosity. I am old enough to remember life before: the I internet, VHS tapes and drive-in movies. I went to the l library and I would check out books on Buddha, eating healthy and the environment. I learned how to meditate from a book I checked out from the library. That was the beginning for me. I first started practicing yoga in college from a Bryan Kest VHS tape. Over the years I continued my mediation practice, but had put my yoga practice to the side because of the lack of classes in New Mexico where I first started and the other places I lived after college. About a decade or so after college I was living in Santa Monica and started working for a yoga studio, called Power Yoga. I had worked there for about a month when I realized the owner of the Studio was Bryan Kest; the same teacher I had originally learned yoga from on the VHS tapes years before, while I was in college. I found it to be very serendipitous for me to pick up my yoga practice where I had started with Bryan years before. I worked at Power Yoga for 5 years, as an employee and a student of yoga. I’m sure if I had not worked at the studio I believe I would not have attended a 10-day silent meditation retreat called vipassana. During my time at Power Yoga, I found the healing work of Lomilomi. My years at Power Yoga gave me the tools and the growth needed to pursue/ perform this sacred healing modality. As my time at Power Yoga was wrapping up and I was sadly saying good-bye to one chapter of my life another amazing door and world was being opening with lomilomi. I am so blessed to study and learn lomilomi in Hawaii not from a school, but the traditional way one on one. It has been an amazing transformative experience, which has spiritually taken me to places I never knew existed. As I continue on my path and grow. I am grateful for all my guides and teachers. Without you I would not have the beautiful and sometime challenging experience. Aloha, Lonnie We Must Be the Change We Wish to See in the World~Gandhi |
